Under 15 Stars/Tigers defeat LLZ

After a slow start and being down 0 -1 on a giveway behind the net the U15 Stars took the game away from the home side and scored eight unanswered goals before LLZ scored once more late to end the game.

After going behind late in the first and not seeming to find their game the Stars settled down and controlled the remainder of the contest at will. Philipp Pöschmann opened the scoring for the visitors from the slot after taking a pass from Paul Koudelka and Alexander Houben. Then it was Houben who tipped in a Jan Blüml point shot on the power play to give the Stars the lead with Pöschmann assisting.

Coming out of the dressing room for the second period the Star/ Tigers looked much more alert and proceeded to pepper the home team with shot from everywhere. Marcel Brichta scored early in the stanza from Pöschmann and Houben to go up 3 – 1 and Pauli Sztatecsny added to the lead on a nice three way passing play from Paul Koudelka and Lukas Gutestam to take it to 4 -1. Pöschmann scored his second of the night from Paul Hochmann and Alexander Houben and Moritz Matzka went end to end alone on a nice effort to go up 6 -1. Hochman from Pöschmann and again Houben with his second goal and fourth point closed out the second period scoring.

The Home team added one late in the third to ease the painful loss somewhat but they were dominated by a much better team from Vienna and St. Pölten.

Coaches Comments:

After another slow start I thought the boys showed some of the hockey they are capable of and controlled every aspect of the game. We made some very smart decisions with the puck today and it looked much better than the previous games. We should have been able to score more but I am happy that they looked for one another all over the ice which is what they will need to do against the better team. Our first line deserves a compliment on their play and showed some very impressive puck movement. All in all it was a good win, and the boys can look forward to their rematch next week in Vienna with glowing confidence.
