OHA Europe Background

The Okanagan Hockey Academy Europe provides a unique combination of first class Canadian hockey program, International education and a state of the art boarding facility in one place, preparing qualified local and International students and players for higher education and an advanced hockey career in Europe and North America.

Located in St. Polten near Vienna, Austria, Okanagan Hockey Academy Europe’s club called the Lower Austria Stars participates in the Austrian National Championship (U-15, U-17, U-20) and numerous tournaments and exhibition games in Europe and North America. In its third year of operation, the Academy currently has 66 players in 3 teams. Its capacity is planned to grow to about 90 players and 4 teams until the fall of 2012.

Scope of Work:

The Head of Athletic Therapy/Strength and Conditioning will manage all staff and aspects of the Athletic Therapy and Strength Conditioning department. The Head of Athletic Therapy/Strength and Conditioning regularly monitors and supervises all Athletic Therapy and Strength Conditioning, Equipment management, participates in OHA Europe clinics/fitness center, monitors equipment inventory, sharpens skates, and organizes/conducts on job training for Athletic Therapy and Strength
Conditioning staff.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Graduated from relevant national institute of health training/Athletic Therapy (e.g. CSCS certification)
• Good supervisory, leadership, analytical and trouble shooting skills
• Ability to support Athletic Therapy & Conditioning staff & provide/receive constructive feedback
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
• Good computer skills
• A class 5 driver’s licence (or European comparable) and a current driver’s abstract.
• Criminal record check.

Main Responsibilities:

• To monitor, supervise, support and advise the Athletic Therapy & Conditioning personnel in the clinics and fitness center.
• To participate in the clinic and Fitness center where necessary.
• To conduct evaluations in the clinic and Fitness center on regular basis according to action plan
• To coordinate regularly monthly meetings and on job training
• To assist OHA Europe Project Manager in the budget preparation, follow up, revisions and to secure accountability practices according to financial regulations
• To check bills of purchased materials and supplies for the Athletic Therapy and Strength Conditioning Department
• Ordering and purchasing equipment and hockey apparel
• Sharpening skates and equipment repair
• Equipment maintenance
