Jr. Varsity (LA 2), U17 Austrian Championship

Our Junior Varsity team is also comprised of players born 1995 and younger all of which attend the 9th grade (LAIS) and will also compete in the U17 Austrian Championship. This squad is made up of mainly new players to the Academy, which will need a lot of work to help them to understand our systems and expectations. They of course will not have an easy time adjusting to the much higher level of hockey they will be facing but again will have the benefit of being one of the younger teams in the league and gain some much needed experience for future challenges. Our Jr. Varsity will travel to Riga, Latvia this spring and can look forward to some very unique experiences both in hockey as well as culture. All our athletes will be given the opportunity to see the bigger picture and widen their horizons both in hockey and in life.

Stars not Hungary enough

Written by Craig Streu.

A two game weekend for the Junior Varsity Stars as they travelled to Szekesfehervar Hungary. The Hungarian Champions have not lost a game this year blowing the competition out every game. The Junior Varsity Stars were hoping to change things. In the end it was a learning experience for the Stars.
The Hungarian Meister outskated, outscored, and outfoxed the Stars in both games. For Goalie Richard Albrecht it was a great chance to take lots of pucks against a high speed attack and for the rest of the boys it was a great experience as for most of the players it was their first taste of international competition.  This is the kind of competition we will be facing in Riga in four months so it gave the boys a a good idea of where we would like our level to be in 4 months time. Goal scorers for the Stars in Hungary were Eduard Kuznetslov (3), Cedric Irhuesogie, and Nikolaus Hauer with his first goal of the season.

Goaltender Richard Albrecht and Defenseman Stefan Boskovic travelled after the game where they will join their respective National teams for the next two weeks, we wish them all the best and will really miss them for our last three games of the first round.
