Academy Teams - Season 2011/12

L.A.Stars Prep (U-20 LAS)

prep Our U20 Prep team is comprised of all 1994 and younger born players most of which are presently in the 11th grade or 7L in the Lower Austria International School and compete in the U20 Austrian Championships.
As one of the youngest teams in the league this season, the Prep team will have its work cut out but has a great opportunity to gain much needed experience at this new level. The team will also travel to Boston again this fall to test the North American game and compete on a whole other level in the U19 Division.

We are happy to be able to provide our young players with the much needed exposure and conditions in which to develop and get them to their next hockeylevels!

Varsity (U-17 LA1)

varsity The Varsity team is one of two Academy teams participating in the Austrian U17 Championships and is comprised of 1995 and younger born players who are also primarily attending the 10th grade or 6L (LAIS).

LA 1 is the more experienced of the two U17 teams and benefited from being able to play in the U17 league last season. With new players from many countries joining the program at both the U20 and U17 levels we do expect it may take a little time to get adjusted to one another and our systems. Players from both U17 teams are always able to step up and play U20 if the coaching staff feels the player can handle the speed and size of the older league. There are no limits to what a player can achieve!

Jr. Varsity (U-17 LA2)

jrvarsity Our Junior Varsity team is also comprised of players born 1995 and younger all of which attend the 9th grade (LAIS) and will also compete in the U17 Austrian Championship. This squad is made up of mainly new players to the Academy, which will need a lot of work to help them to understand our systems and expectations. They of course will not have an easy time adjusting to the much higher level of hockey they will be facing but again will have the benefit of being one of the younger teams in the league and gain some much needed experience for future challenges. Our Jr. Varsity will travel to Riga, Latvia this spring and can look forward to some very unique experiences both in hockey as well as culture. All our athletes will be given the opportunity to see the bigger picture and widen their horizons both in hockey and in life.
