U15 Stars Stay on Track
In this Sunday's afternoon game in Vienna, the U15 Stars/ Tigers continued thier winning ways defeating the Black Wings of Linz 2 - 0.
The Youngest Stars showed just why they are on top of the Eastern Division of the Austrian U15 Championships by shutting out a strong Linz side and playing a very disciplined game. Behind the steady goaltending of Sämi Prosenz the Stars made few mistakes and got a good effort from all players in what was an entertaining game. The first period saw both teams trade chances early on, with the Stars getting their first of the game from a strong Philipp Pöschmann who took a paul Hochmann feed to open the scoring. Both teams settled in and played hard at both ends of the ice with the Stars having the overall edge in the first and continued to carry the play in the second period when Florian Baltram got his team up by two when he scored from close in with Jan Blüml assiting on the play. Baltram in just his first game back after having his appendix removed played very solid and will certainly help his team in the games to come.
The Stars showed that they are improving in all areas of the game and had very few weakness this afternoon. Both Star/Tiger coaches were happy with the overall performance and complimented thier team on the victory, but were also quick to point out that there are still areas that need improvement.
Coaches comments:
Good solid effort from everyone especially Sämi Prosenz who was there every time we needed him. We still have to learn to hold the blue line a bit better on the defence and also move the puck faster up front. We can be much better yet by letting the puck do even more of the work for us. We have some very strong players who will learn that less can sometimes be more if they willing to give it up a little sooner and get it back rather than carrying it too long. This is a very talented group that is sure to get even stronger in the weeks months to come. When we play like this we will be a tough team to beat for anyone, lets hope we can build on this win and pick up another couple of points in Graz next weekend!
